Free eye examination on the occasion of World Children’s Day
On Friday, November 22, we held another humanitarian campaign, this time for the youngest. On the occasion of Universal Children’s Day, Dr. Tamara Avramović Kljaković, pediatric ophthalmologist, performed free eye examinations for children aged 4 to 10.
In the pleasant environment of our ophthalmology center, we welcomed many children accompanied by their parents. After the examinations, the parents received an expert opinion on the state of their children’s vision, the observed irregularities, and recommendations for further treatment.
With this campaign, we wanted to help raise parents’ awareness of the importance of ophthalmic examinations at ages 4 and 6, which is a key period for detecting and treating disorders such as high refractive error, a difference in diopters between the eyes, strabismus, etc. If these disorders are not identified in time and appropriate treatment is not started, amblyopia (lazy eye) may develop, which represents a serious disadvantage for the child and the parents.
