Congress of the European Association for Cataract and Refractive Surgery – Milano 2012

Doctors of the ophthalmology team of the House of Health in the period from 6.9. until 12.09.2012. they attended the Congress of the European Association for Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS) and the Congress of the European Association of Posterior Ocular Specialists (EURETINA).

The symposia that were held this year in Milan brought together the world’s greatest experts in the aforementioned fields, who through theoretical and practical interactive courses presented the latest trends and achievements ofmodern ophthalmology, which contributed to the professional development of our staff. On this occasion, we gained ACREDITED RECOGNITIONS for working with the most modern fake intraocular lenses (Chachet and Verisyse). Implantation of the mentioned fake lenses makes it possible to solve the problem of myopia and farsightedness, in patients who, due to the height of the refractive anomaly (dioptre), the thickness of the cornea or other conditions, are not suitable candidates for laser removal of the dioptre.

Looking at the growing number of people suffering from diabetes, our the team underwent training for the application of the most current diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for the prevention of treatment of various forms of visual impairment caused by diabes mellitus.

As part of the instructional courses, we adopted the latest trends in the application of antiVEGF therapy, which is a powerful weapon in the prevention of severe visual impairment caused by a number of diseases fundus.

The expert team of the University Ophthalmology Clinic from Vienna, led by the world-renowned expert Prof. Ph.D. Ursulom Schmidt-Erfurth, enabled us to see the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in the practical application of OCT devices (optical coherence tomography). In our daily work, OCT images of the structures of the fundus make it easier for us to make a timely diagnosis, monitor the course of the disease and the effect of the applied therapy in the treatment of various diseases.
