Celebrating World Glaucoma Week
Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve due to increased intraocular pressure. This serious disease, which many call the “silent killer of vision,” often does not give any symptoms, and if not detected and treated in time, it can lead to serious damage and even complete loss of vision. Bearing in mind that glaucoma is the second most common cause of blindness in the world, the World Health Organization has dedicated a week to the fight against this insidious disease in its health calendar.

Doctors of the ophthalmology team of the “Perfect Vision” Polyclinic “Health Houses” celebrated, for the fourth year in a row, the World Glaucoma Week. At the Open University in Subotica, they held a lecture on the concept of glaucoma, diagnostic techniques, methods of treatment and the importance of prevention, and after the lecture they performed a free measurement of intraocular pressure for all those present. A large number of people, mostly the elderly, responded to the action, who in this way learned all the important information about glaucoma, taking the opportunity to get answers to all their questions in a conversation with a doctor.
The aim of the action is to raise awareness of the wider population about the severity of glaucoma and the importance of prevention and regular ophthalmological examinations.
