Humanitarian action “At the sea with peers”
“Dečje srce” , a humanitarian organization for helping people with developmental disabilities, has been organizing the action “At the sea with peers” for the fifteenth year in a row. The aim of the action is to create conditions for children and young people with mental disabilities, who have lived in their biological families since birth, to go to sea without their parents, with their peers and experts who will teach them life skills.

They will stay at sea for ten days, during which they will go through the “School of Life” program, through which they will have the opportunity to learn how to find, see and maximize their potential, in order to be as independent and independent as possible from their parents and people who care about them. During their stay at sea, parents will have the opportunity to rest, devote themselves and their loved ones, and enjoy things that they cannot otherwise do because of the constant care of their child. In this way, the action represents a kind of prevention of placing children with developmental disabilities in specialized institutions and enabling them to have an easier and more beautiful life in the family.
This year’s action will be held from July 25 to August 5, 2016 in Herceg Novi and will include 35 children and youth with developmental disabilities. 1,206,000 dinars are needed to implement the action.
