XXI National Congress of Ophthalmologists of Serbia

After almost three years due to the coronavirus pandemic, the XXI National Congress of Ophthalmologists of Serbia took place in Vrdnik with international participation.

In Serbia, there are currently over 600 ophthalmologists and over 100 young doctors undergoing specialization, who enable the progress of ophthalmology in this country. The border between Serbia and the modern world is largely being erased with the help of a well-coordinated team in private and state hospitals. Quality ophthalmologists and state-of-the-art equipment are the main factors of this process, without which progress in ophthalmology would not be possible.

There are more than 650 participants, with an organization of around 800. The best lecturers have come and we have a great response from local experts and young ophthalmologists, according to prof. Dr. Miroslav Stamenković.

During the congress, 25 sessions and 10 symposiums were held in the large hall of the Vrdnička Kula Ethno Complex, while the central part of the program was dedicated to the academy of the European Association for Cataract and Refractive Surgery. This year, the National Congress gathered a large number of lecturers and experts from our country, as well as the region, who shared their experiences from practice, the novelties they encountered and the challenges of Serbian ophthalmology.

Ophthalmologists from the Perfect Vision Eye Center, prof., were among the selected lecturers. Dr. Nikola Babić, prof. Dr. Sofija Davidović and Dr. Branka Ivošević who presented the results of their professional work, their scientific achievements and mastered skills using new products and medicines.

Amicus Symposium – ACRYSOF IQ VIVITY INTRAOCULAR
LENS WITH EXTENDED VISION RANGE – FIRST EXPERIENCES

Our first experiences with the new Alcon premium intraocular lens AcrySof IQ Vivity were shared by Dr. Branka Ivošević, refractive and cataract surgeon.

The Vivity intraocular lens provides an extended range of vision: excellent intermediate and distance vision and functional near vision. Unlike multifocal intraocular lenses, it does not cause visual disturbances such as glare and halos. They are suitable for all people who want to improve their quality of life, that is, less dependence on wearing glasses or contact lenses.

Our first experiences were evaluated by the patients in whom we implanted the Vivity intraocular lens, stating that this lens enabled them to have an excellent quality of life.
