The World Glaucoma Week is traditionally marked
In the World Health Calendar, the period from 08. until March 14, 2015 has a special significance because then Glaucoma Week is celebrated all over the world. This insidious disease, called the “silent killer of vision”, is unfortunately still often discovered by chance examination at a late stage, when are already advanced and permanent damages sight Therefore, glaucoma is, after cataract, the second most frequent cause of blindness in the world in people over 65 years of age.
Keeping in mind the importance of prevention and early detection of glaucoma, the “Perfect Vision” ophthalmology team, for the fifth year in a row, held a traditional lecture, with a free eye pressure measurement. The lecturer was Dr. sci med Veljko Andreić, expert associate of the “Perfect Vision” clinic. This action, which was held on March 11, 2015. in the premises of the Open University in Subotica, a large number of citizens responded who took the opportunity to perform a screening test for glaucoma in an abbreviated procedure and, in a direct conversation with the lecturer, learn everything they were interested in about this wicked disease.
