Participation in the Congress “Diabetes and the Eye”

In Belgrade, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, on April 16, 2016, a one-day symposium “Diabetes and the Eye” was held, organized by Miloš Klinka, and sponsored by the European Association of Vitreoretinal Surgeons (EVRS). The representative of the “Perfect Vision” eye center, Dr. Branka Ivošević, attended the symposium.

At the Symposium, topics covered by the novel were presented, further understanding the treatment of diabetes and its complications in the eye, “screening” and new trends in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy, diabetic cataracts and keratopathy.

Outstanding domestic and foreign lecturers mainly based their presentations on the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic retinopathy, with reference to modern diagnostic methods, some of which were presented for the first time in our country. There was talk about macular edema therapy, as well as modern microincisional surgery as a final solution for cases of proliferative diabetic retinopathy and the most serious complication of diabetes in the eye – neovascular glaucoma.

By participating in this symposium, we acquired new knowledge, which we will gladly apply in our practice, in order to provide our patients with the highest quality ophthalmic health care.
