Tips for children who spend a lot of time in front of the computer
Today’s children are growing up in a digital world, where televisions, computers, tablets and smartphones are part of their everyday life.

Computers can cause eye strain

Looking at the monitor for several hours is stressful for children’s eyes, as it requires increased strain and focusing. While concentrating on the content on the screens, children forget to blink, which further dries out their eyes. The consequences are burning and red eyes, headache, fatigue and blurred vision.

Teach children how to use computers properly
Moderation and rest
The most important thing is to limit the time spent in front of screens by taking frequent breaks. It is recommended that after every 20 minutes in front of screens, children take a 15-minute break.

The top of the monitor should be at eye level, at a distance of about 45-70 cm, the table at a height of about 70 cm, and the chair in accordance with ergonomic requirements.
Monitor settings
It is recommended to use quality monitors, with comfortable contrast and lighting settings. The size of the text should be large enough, so as not to strain the eyes when reading.
Climate conditions
In the room where the child stays, the air should not be too warm and dry, and in particular, exposure to direct air flow from the air conditioner should be avoided, which further dries the eyes.
Lighting
Daylight or artificial light must not fall directly on the screen, as this creates reflections. It is best for children to use the computer in daylight, because poor artificial lighting often tires the eyes.
Take children for regular eye exams
The first eye examination is recommended at the age of 3-4 years. If the findings are correct, the next mandatory examination is before the child starts school. After that, routine examinations are advised every 2 years to monitor the development of the child’s eye.
