New trends in cataract treatment – The 6th Meeting of Refractive Surgeons was held

In addition to refractive surgery, research and development of new technologies of intraocular lenses (IOL) opens new horizons for improving the vision of patients. Cataract (cataract), as one of the leading causes of blindness, complicates the life of more than 30 million people a year. As a result of the increase in demand for cataract surgery, new technologies have been developed, which make it possible to remove cataracts, diopters and correct astigmatism, farsightedness and shortsightedness during the same operation. In order for science and technology to constantly develop, expert meetings and congresses are necessary, where doctors, through the exchange of experiences and opinions with colleagues from different fields of ophthalmology, the presentation of research results and educational courses, can adopt the latest knowledge in the field of diagnostics, therapy and adequate monitoring of patients suffering from cataracts.

In order to provide our patients with higher quality and modern methods of diagnosis and treatment, the doctors of „Perfect Vision“ attended the 6. Meeting of Refractive Surgeons in Ljubljana, held from 5-7. September. The program of this gathering began with educational courses in the following areas: cross-linking, YAG laser capsulotomy, botox application and step-by-step cataract surgery. During six symposia, world-renowned doctors and experts presented their scientific works, among which the most interesting works were: cataract surgery with the Femto Laser technique, new trifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs), the influence of hormones on keratoconus, the possibilities of intraocular lenses in the correction of astigmatism in eyes with keratoconus and many others.
